Ute Maya-Giambattista

My name is Ute, and I am an urban designer working in Canada helping communities unlock their potential and transform the vitality of their places.

I believe that urban design can be a vehicle for creating healthy places and communities. Beyond being a “nice” picture, good urban design results in a carefully calibrated, economically viable design solution or vision that enhances the community’s environmental, and social context for years to come.

Many CNU members are leaders within the architecture, design, and planning communities. Together, we help to advance the national conversation by convening experts, sharing strategies for success, and accelerating member-led efforts. Outstanding architecture and design projects accelerated by CNU's support include Sprawl RetrofitLEED for Neighborhood Development, and our national advocacy work on financing development.
