Job Description
The City of Kissimmee is looking for talented planners who have experience in development review; comprehensive and transportation planning; preparation and presentation of reports; research and analysis of various planning issues; and customer service skills to join our team. Boasting a diverse population and vibrant downtown that will soon include a new $65M mixed use development (Mosaic) across from the recently opened Lakefront Park, the Downtown Intermodal Transportation Center including the SunRail station opening in February 2018, the downtown circulator bus route scheduled to begin in 2017, and a parking garage, Kissimmee is a dynamic place to live and work. Other exciting initiatives include the recently adopted Medical Arts District around the two hospitals just outside of downtown, Vine Street and Downtown CRAs, continued development of both the Shingle Creek Regional Trail System and the Kissimmee Trail Loop featuring a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge over John Young Parkway. The City is also engaged in performing corridor studies to incorporate Complete Street standards to improve the function, aesthetics, and pedestrian experience on two important street corridors. Qualifications
Position req’s. a Bachelors of Arts degree in urban and regional planning or related field supplemented by 3 yrs. of professional planning exp. Master’s degree and AICP certification pref’d. Must possess and maintain a valid St. of Fl. Driver’s License. Open until filled.
