Summary
Performs expert-level managerial and administrative work directing the development, planning, budgeting, design, procurement, and implementation for the Parks and Recreation Design & Construction Division projects. Manages, monitors, and assesses all phases of design and construction project management efforts from implementation to close-out. Provides strategic leadership, division-level expertise, planning, policy development, project oversight, and budget management. Represents Parks and Recreation to the Legislature, City Administration, other departments, the general public and external organizations. Manages staff hiring, training, development and performance directly, and through subordinate supervisors. Coordinates related asset management system and strategic efforts through collaborations with the Operations Division. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or another design-related field with high level design and construction project management experience. Licensure or certification in degree field is required. MN licensure as an Architect or Landscape Architect, or AICP CUD certification in Urban Design must be obtained within 18 months of appointment.
- MN Licensure as an Architect or a Landscape Architect by comity is available for individuals currently licensed in another jurisdiction.
Work history must demonstrate seven years of increasingly responsible, professional experience in a public or private agency.
- A Master's Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or another design related field may be substituted for both one year of supervisory experience and one year of parks and recreation system design and development experience.
Must posses and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license. The driver's license must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses within the two-year period prior to the date of appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded.
Preferred Qualifications
- LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification
- Experience with design and construction projects ranging form $25, 000 - $15M
- Experience with project management/asset management systems and technology
