Weston is transitioning to a modernized approach for managing development activity within the City. Previously, these functions were fully contracted; however, the City is now establishing a
dedicated Development Services Director position to provide direct leadership, oversight, and strategic coordination of all development related operations. To support this enhanced structure, Weston will continue to staff three fulltime contract development services professionals, each working 40 hours per week within City offices.

The ideal candidate will have experience in complex land use and development matters, along with the leadership style needed to support a complex, high-performing organization. At the same time, they must demonstrate soft skills: clear communication, emotional intelligence, and the ability to make people feel heard, respected, and valued.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in planning, public policy, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred, as is being a Certified Planner with the American
Institute of Certified Planners. Staff members are expected to be active members in professional organizations and to seek ongoing professional development.
