Community Relations Manager

Description
The Community Relations Manager serves as the primary public-facing voice and storyteller for the Pumpkinvine Trails Coalition. In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team, this role integrates communications, public relations, digital engagement, community outreach, and event promotion efforts that strengthen public awareness, increase community engagement, and support trail development and stewardship. This role ensures consistent mission-aligned messaging while maintaining strong relationships with media, community members, partners, and donors.
Community Engagement & Events
- Build relationships with media and civic organizations, and community partners.
- Support planning, promotion, and coordination of community events, programs, and initiatives.
- Represent and promote the Coalition at public meetings, outreach events, trail activities, and community gatherings.
Storytelling & Digital Engagement
- Ensure that all communications reflect the organization’s values, policies, and strategic priorities.
- Create engaging social media content, photography, videos, and trail stories, in collaboration with community groups and internal partners, that highlight community, impact, and trail experiences.
- Maintain accurate and current website content.
Public Relations & Communications
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Community Foundation’s Marketing and Communications team and Pumpkinvine Trails Coalition staff to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Coordinate media interviews and support leadership messaging.
- Coordinate Coalition marketing and communication projects with internal teams and external vendors.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for public inquiries, community feedback, and external communications.
- Develop and implement communication strategies that strengthen visibility, credibility, and public support for the Coalition.
Project Management & Administration
- Develop and implement communication & outreach strategies that strengthen the Coalitions’ visibility, credibility, and public support.
- Monitor engagement analytics to improve audience reach and visibility.
- Build, track, and communicate project timelines, follow-up, and deliverables to ensure timely and effective execution.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
- Bachelor's degree in communications or related field; or three to five years’ professional experience in communications, public relations, digital marketing, community outreach, or related field.
- Passion for trails, outdoor recreation, community engagement, and active transportation.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and ability to travel locally.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to speak and present with enthusiasm and clarity.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional fluency in social media platforms.
Preferred
- Knowledge of trail systems, nonprofit organizations, tourism promotion, or recreation programming.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, photography, and video editing.
