The City of Clearwater is hiring a Planner II or III to join the Planning & Development department’s Long Range Planning division. This team leads the City’s long-term planning efforts—developing the vision for Clearwater’s future and ensuring that policy and investment decisions align with that vision.
The city recently completed a major update to the Comprehensive Plan and the Department is now focused on implementation—through land development code amendments, special projects, and planning studies. We’re looking for planners with experience drafting land development regulations and an interest in thoughtful, policy- based planning.
As part of the Department, you’ll collaborate not only within the Long Range Planning division but also with teams in the Development Review, Construction Services, and Code Compliance divisions and other city departments —gaining insight into how the regulations you help shape are reviewed, built, and maintained in the community.

Sample tasks include mid- to advanced level professional planning work to produce long range plans; research and analysis; processing petitions for annexation, land use amendments, zoning atlas amendments, development agreements; drafting code amendments; community engagement; preparing comprehensive staff reports; presenting to city Boards and Council; and participating in various countywide work groups.
