Description
The city of Clearwater’s Planning & Development department is hiring a Planning Division Manager (Long Range) to lead a team of long-range and transportation planners. In this role, you'll oversee long-term planning initiatives—managing the Comprehensive Plan, special area and transportation planning, code amendments, and redevelopment strategy, developing the vision for Clearwater’s future and ensuring that policy and investment decisions align with that vision.

We’re looking for someone with experience in drafting or overseeing land development regulations and a track record of guiding planning projects and studies as well as staff to lead the team with the implementation of the newly updated Comprehensive Plan and city’s Strategic Plan. You’ll support your team in technical work while working closely with managers and colleagues in the Development Review, Construction Services, and Code Compliance divisions and other city departments to ensure seamless implementation of plans.

Sample tasks include supervising and mentoring personnel and reviewing/editing all work products; evaluating planning applications; identifying and preparing long range plans and code amendments; developing and leading community engagement activities; presenting to city Boards and Council; representing the department and City at various internal and countywide committees.
