Senior Project Manager

Salary: $80,000 – $110,000 / yr

Founded in 2009, Street Plans is an award-winning urban planning, design, and research-advocacy firm with offices in Atlanta, New York, Pittsburgh, South Florida, and the San Francisco Bay Area. We partner with a range of public, private, nonprofit, and foundation clients to advance human-centered transportation, public realm, and urban design projects that create more inclusive and resilient communities. We are a passionate team of architects, planners, and urban designers known globally as the leaders of the Tactical Urbanism movement.

Who we’re looking for: A highly organized, communicative and creative urban planner, with a strong background in project management to help lead urban design projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will be passionate and experienced with projects related to neighborhood planning, code writing, street design, and /or public space, and have experience contributing to or leading effective community planning and/or engagement initiatives. Preference for candidates based in Miami or NYC.

Role Overview

  • Serve as the primary project contact and project manager on behalf of Street Plans and primary project partners
  • Lead regular project communications with all project partners and stakeholders, including community groups, local businesses, residents, City departments/agencies
  • Develop and maintain project schedule and all associated deliverables
  • Develop and maintain project budgets
  • Direct production of project deliverables as needed
  • Lead and/or support digital and in-person, on-site engagement activities
  • Conduct physical design survey and analysis activities
  • Collaborate with other Street Plans design staff and client teams to develop physical design, policy, and project implementation plans
  • Expertise in New Urbanism, or transportation planning/engineering a plus.
  • Contribute to the firm’s marketing and communication efforts as time permits

Experience

  • Min. 5-10+ years experience managing transportation planning or urban design projects
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in urban planning, design, architecture, environmental, and/or urban policy is a big plus but not required – we are looking for the right person not the right academic credential!
  • Experience supporting senior leadership and urban designers in the development of planning and physical design initiatives

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed -Quantitative and Qualitative analysis capabilities
  • Good judgment, can work quickly, and is persistent but cordial
  • Knowledgeable in issues of human-centered transportation, public space, architecture, and urban design
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus, but not required

Technical Skills

  • Fluency with Google Workspace (Google drive, gmail, sheets, docs etc.)
  • Fluency with schedule tracking software (Airtable or similar)
  • Familiarity with planning and executing transportation projects from inception to completion.
  • Knowledge of and past experience using plan graphic and graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Auto-Cad, Rhino, ARC-GIS, and Sketch-Up skills are required.
