Description
The City of Fayetteville is seeking an innovative, energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team in the Community and Economic Development Department. We are located twenty miles south of Atlanta and home to Trilith Studios and the award-winning Town at Trilith. Our elected officials and management team are unified in their vision for the revitalization and redevelopment of our downtown core into a vibrant, walkable and livable environment. To that end we commissioned an intense study of approximately 900-acres surrounding the historic Fayette County Courthouse, including significant input from the community and other stakeholders. The recommendations of that study were incorporated into a new (and internally developed) Unified Development Ordinance and the rezoning of the 900-acres into the Downtown Mixed Use zoning district and its’ eight sub-districts. Key components of the UDO include allowing for specific types of infill and Missing Middle housing in each subdistrict; removing minimum parking requirements throughout the city; implementing design standards for each building type; and providing for safe streets and pedestrian interconnectivity. The city was recently awarded the Visionary Planning Award through the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Excellence Awards program for their efforts to re-energize the Downtown Mixed-Use district.

Our hope is to find an individual wanting to assist us in achieving our vision, to work with property owners and developers as they implement the UDO, and to become an integral part of planning for future growth and development throughout the city. Under the Direction of the Planning and Zoning Manager, the Senior Planner will be responsible for performing a wide variety of complex technical as well as administrative tasks.
