Salary: $80,810.37

Closing: March 15, 2024

Description
Would you like to have a positive impact on the built environment in a rapidly changing and growing metropolitan area? If so, consider applying to work with the Metro Nashville Planning Department, which is seeking to hire an experienced Planner 2 to join our Plan Review team.

The purpose of the Metro Nashville Land Development Program is to provide design expertise, professional planning advice, and policy and regulatory tools and techniques to decision-makers, developers, and the public so they can have the information and regulatory framework to implement and apply the principles of sustainable development consistent with the community’s vision established in the General Plan.

The Nashville region is home to more than two million people and more than 70,000 businesses. Many corporate headquarter giants call Middle Tennessee home, including Nissan North America, Bridgestone Americas, Dollar General, Hospital Corporation of America, iHeartMedia, and Mitsubishi. A national hub for the creative class, Nashville has the strongest concentration of the music industry in America.

Nashville and Davidson County's population is growing and becoming more diverse. By 2040, projections say Nashville will welcome 200,000 more people and over 300,000 more jobs. Nashville/Davidson County has a culture grounded in inclusivity and friendliness, creativity and entrepreneurship, and concern for others. Cultural diversity, unique neighborhoods, a variety of industries and a thriving creative community make Middle Tennessee among the nation’s best locations for relocating, expanding, and startup companies.

Land Development planners review subdivisions, rezonings, and other applications related to the zoning code, guide applicants through the development process, and write staff reports advising the Planning Commission. The Planner 2 will be responsible for reviewing complex land development cases. Assigned to the Land Development Division of the Metropolitan Planning Department, the Planner 2 will perform and coordinate professional level work related to site plans, zone changes, PUDs, Specific Plans, text amendments, permits and subdivision plats.
