Senior Planner

Salary: $70,000 - $95,000

Description
Asakura Robinson is seeking an associate principal-level planner who will join and lead project teams, working as part of a cross-office, cross-discipline team that creates innovative designs and plans for communities of all sizes across the U.S. We would like this person to provide overarching project direction to AR staff and oversight of work products; lead internal and external subconsultant and client teams; and de-velop and manage projects including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules. Typical projects we work on include corridor plans, downtown plans, parks and open space plans, comprehensive plans, subarea plans, station area plans, transit-oriented development, and neighborhood plans. A successful candidate will participate in representing the office locally and nationally, will have significant marketing responsibilities, and will be responsible for managing and mentoring staff. The candidate will be able to balance individual work with team-based collaboration.

Job Requirements

  • Work minimum of eight hours per day, five days per week, sitting or standing at a desk.
  • Be able to walk, kneel, crouch, or stoop to be able to position self to see different areas of project sites.

Skills

  • Diverse project management experience related to design and planning.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and GIS is required for all candidates. Proficiency with Rhino, SketchUp or AutoCAD is beneficial.
  • Great visual storytelling is highly desirable.
  • Successful candidates must be fluent in English – written and spoken. Fluency in additional languages, especially Spanish, is highly desirable.
  • In addition to technical proficiency, participation in community groups and nonprofits is expected and the candidate should be comfortable serving as an ambassador of the firm in the community.
  • The qualified candidate should desire to have a research interest that will result in internal and external presentations, published essays, participation at conferences and ultimately help to advance the quality of the firm’s work.
  • Urban Ecology and Resilience experience preferred

Other Requirements

  • Some combination of AICP, CNU-A, LEED AP, Sustainable Sites credentials.
  • Ability to travel as needed to project sites throughout the Central Texas region and to other AR offices and project sites.
