Project Description

We’re looking for a temporary Information Designer with a passion for untangling and explaining complex topics. This is a 2 month position with strong focus on organizing complex information into clear and compelling visual communications, from initial design through the final deliverable. We’re looking for someone with a passion for walkable, bikable, transit oriented places and the design that makes them work. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated team player and great communicator who loves to engage in order to improve any process. They will have experience in visual and graphic design, strong communication strategy, and eagerness to learn more to help raise Opticos’s level of impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in visual or graphic design and 2+ years of experience
  • Strong portfolio showcasing skills in designer user interactions and experiences
  • Proficiency with visual design tools, including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; SketchUp; and Microsoft Word and Excel. If no direct experience with these programs, then a qualified candidate will have demonstrable of competencies in being able to quickly learn new software applications
  • Responsible for communicating complex data stories and insights in a way that is engaging, explanatory, easily absorbed, and accurately portrayed
  • Self-motivated and service-oriented
  • Good problem solving, design, and time management skills
  • Competency in document writing and editing
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and client, consultant, and project administration effectively
  • Solid interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Stellar work ethic and a demonstrated penchant for ownership and getting the job done
  • Great attitude, natural leadership, and a sense of humor
  • Passionate about sustainable urban design and architecture, experience working in urban design or planning a strong plus
