Job Description:
UDA is seeking a talented, articulate professional architectural designer with 3-8 years of experience. The Design Architect position is a merit-based post offered to qualified candidates who have demonstrated strong design and technical skills to fulfill this. Primary responsibilities include supporting the team on Conceptual Design and Schematic Design efforts, managing small projects, and reinforcing the daily operations of the team. Prior experience in construction documents and construction observation is preferred. Exposure to urban design is also desirable.
Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts and communicate with clients
- Oversee development and execution of design ideas
- Work in a collaborative and open studio environment
- Assist Project Manager and Principal-in- Charge with project schedules
- Coordinate project team
- Oversee the final production of deliverables
- Assist principals and associates with report writing
- Be accountable for the successful completion of projects
- Mentor junior team members
Skills Required:
- Design experience in two or more of the following typologies: single family residential; multifamily residential; mixed-use; civic
- Participation in architectural projects that address community design issues such as high-density living, public engagement, programming, neighborhood repair, and context
- Ability to communicate verbally, in writing, and through drawings
- Adeptness at hand drawing and sketching
- Demonstrated creative ability, including urban, architectural, and graphic design
- Project organization and management expertise
- Proficient in AutoCAD, the Adobe Suite, and SketchUp
Education, Experience, Certification, and Licensure:
- Bachelor's degree or Master's Degree in architecture
- 3-8 year professional experience in architecture
- NCARB record toward licensure
- Architects license (U.S.) preferred
- LEED Accreditation preferred
