Position Description:
Serves as Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator for the City of Bloomington and the Bloomington/Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMCMPO), with primary responsibility for the development and implementation of bicycle and pedestrian transportation plans, projects and programs. Incumbent also provides regular staff support to the BMCMPO and the Planning Services Division of the Planning and Transportation Department. Other duties as required.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Civil Engineering or related field, with course work and/or applied experience in transportation planning or civil engineering. Knowledge of objectives and principles of transportation planning, funding, and engineering with an emphasis on bicycle-pedestrian transportation.
Training/Skills:
Knowledge of objective and principles of transportation planning, funding, and engineering with an emphasis on bicycle-pedestrian transportation. Proficiency in database and spreadsheet analysis. Ability to compile technical information, and to prepare narrative and graphic reports. Knowledge of contracting principles and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, committee members, elected officials and the general public.
Experience:
Minimum experience equivalent to 1-3 years.
Certification:
Ability to become certified through the League of American Bicyclists as a certified instructor.
Hours:
8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday, other times as required.
Salary Range:
$40,000 - $43,500
