Job Description

Considered the Home of Innovation in the Silicon Valley stretching from the Peninsula foothills to the San Francisco Bay, Menlo Park (pop. 32,000) is committed to preserving its high quality of life and the environment while facilitating a variety of exciting new development. Organized across two divisions (Planning and Building), the Community Development Department is supported by a staff of 27 and an annual budget of $6.2 million.

The ideal candidate will display an impressive understanding of urban planning with depth in housing, commuting and transportation issues. He/she will be an excellent communicator and a supportive team player who embraces new technology and best practices that maximize resources and performance. Five years of relevant urban planning public and/or private sector experience that includes at least two years of supervisory experience and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline are required. A Master’s degree and/or AICP certification is desirable.
