Description:
Michael Watkins Architect, LLC is a small and very busy architecture and town planning firm in Kentlands, outside Washington, D.C. We are seeking an architect / urban designer to join us in serving some of the best clients out there. We support our clients in their efforts to build community at a variety of scales (from two to two thousand acres) in the US and abroad. The services we provide include: conceptual architectural design; master plans for infill, greenfield, greyfield and brownfield sites; zoning codes, design codes and pattern books; serving as "Town Architect" and more. Design charrettes, both public and in-house, are the norm, especially on large projects.
The successful candidate will be an architect and/or urban designer who is passionate about creating beautiful, walkable, communities. Candidates should be highly motivated, able to think creatively and critically, detail-oriented, and able to represent the firm with clients. Education and/or experience in traditional architecture is expected. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are expected. Proficiency with Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD and Apple computers is expected. The ability to draw and paint by hand would be welcome!
