A year after the first book of home

A year after the first book of home plans for neotraditional developments was published, TND Series, Traditional Neighborhood Design Volume 2 is scheduled for a February 1, 1998, publishing date. The new volume will have 132 plans, and more than 100 of these will be new, according to Don Johnson of Town Planning Collaborative in Minneapolis, Minnesota — the firm that is editing the series for publisher HomeStyles. Volume 2 will sell for $30, the same as the first book, and contains a mix of edgeyard, sideyard, rearyard (townhome) and other house plans designed to fit into traditional neighborhood developments. Volume 3, focusing on Florida vernacular styles and commissioned by the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council in Stuart, Florida, will follow soon thereafter, Johnson says. In addition to home plans, Volume 3 will contain designs for larger, mixed-use buildings for town centers. Volume 1 continues to sell steadily, although not spectacularly, in its second printing. The first press run was 2,500, and the second was 5,000. It is not available in book stores, and marketing has been minimal. Contact: (612) 823-7150.
