Save the date: CNU X will be held in Miami Beach, Florida, at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, June 13 to 16, 2002. Thanks to the annual boost provided by the New York Congress this past June, CNU membership is at an all-time high. Our 2,600 members are to be found in almost every US state and in 21 countries on every continent except Antarctica. Welcome, new members. CNU thanks Jim Moore, our departing Director of Advisory Services, for his work over the past year. He helped organize our advisory events in Boise, the Sierra Nevada, and the District of Columbia, and took a major role organizing this year's Congress. We also thank Annalise Fonza, our summer intern who researched and wrote about land development regulations. The result of their work is now on the CNU website — his in the Advisory Services area, hers under the Planners Task Force initiative, “New Urbanist Land Development Regulations.” Keep an eye on CNU.org for breaking news about our ongoing initiatives. Three initiatives that are likely to release findings soon are our Greyfield Malls initiative, the Street Design initiative, and New Urbanist Land Development Regulations. Initiatives are listed under “About CNU” on our website. CNU members have probably noticed a new perk of membership. Diane Dorney, publisher of The Town Paper, generously mails complimentary copies to all CNU members, at no cost to CNU. If you enjoy the newspaper, please consider paying for a subscription. It fulfills a need within the movement, and the mailings to CNU members will not continue indefinitely.
