A recent letter to the Chapel Hill News,

A recent letter to the Chapel Hill News, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, thanked Southern Village developer D.R. Bryan for his “ generosity and vision” in donating a piece of land for a church. “Southern Village will be a lovely development in Chapel Hill, and our church will occupy a prominent corner in it, overlooking the village green,” says Raegan May, pastor. “Without this gift, our congregation would have faced a significant delay in its plans to have a permanent place of worship.” The building, scheduled to be under construction in March, 1998, will have a solid stone exterior and cathedral-shaped windows, and thus is likely to be an architectural asset. The letter underscores the fact that traditional neighborhood developments, like Southern Village, foster, support and benefit from civic and community buildings.
