A new development incorporating aspects of New Urbanism

A new development incorporating aspects of New Urbanism and sustainability is getting underway 32 miles south of Atlanta. Serenbe, a 900-acre project in Palmetto, Georgia, is designed in the form of two mixed-use hamlets. Seventy percent of the land is preserved in open space. One of the hamlets, the Farm Village, will include five-acre lots on the edge intended for small-scale farming. Developers are Marie and Steve Nygren, Nan and Rawson Haverty, and Ryan Gainey, who also is the landscape designer. Philip Tabb is the master architect and Lew Oliver is the town architect.
