A master plan for the Ocean View section
ROBERT STEUTEVILLE    MAR. 1, 2002
A master plan for the Ocean View section of Norfolk, Virginia, was unveiled by architect Ray Gindroz of Urban Design Associates (UDA). The plan recommends the creation of a “village center” adjacent to the site of a new urban neighborhood soon to be under construction — East Beach, master planned by Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company. The UDA plan seeks realignment of streets to allow views of Chesapeake Bay and to lure new retail shops to the waterfront area, according to the Virginian-Pilot newspaper. The area is currently described by the paper as a “hodgepodge of residential and commercial development.”
