It appears that detached garages do sell in

It appears that detached garages do sell in the upper Midwest, an important traditional neighborhood development (TND) issue in the snow belt. Twenty-five homes have sold in Centennial Crossing in Vernon Hills, Illinois, since the project went on sale in September, and 19 of these have detached garages. “Purchasers have plenty of choices of home models, so that if someone wanted to live in Centennial Crossing but wanted an attached garage, they could do it,” says Chuck Hanlon of Land Planner Services, the project urban designer. The 80-acre project by Town & Country Homes is the first major test of a neotraditional development in the Chicago area. Traffic volume through the sales center surpasses all other projects by Town & Country, a major builder in the Chicago area. Town & Country was introduced to TND through Celebration, Disney’s town near Orlando, Florida, where it was one of the first production builders. Centennial Crossing is adjacent to a new commuter rail station.
