Four smart growth awards, out of 17
ROBERT STEUTEVILLE    DEC. 1, 2000
Four smart growth awards, out of 17 total awarded by the State of Maryland, went to the City of Gaithersburg and projects in that municipality. The city won an award for its overall smart growth policy. An award was given to Market Square, the town center shared by Kentlands and Lakelands, two new urbanist neighborhoods. Washingtonian Center, a main street retail and entertainment project, also won an award, as did the Park Station Apartments, which added housing units to the Old Towne part of the city.
