The City of Madison, Wisconsin, recently approved the Village of Autumn Lake, a 285-acre mixed-use project based largely on traditional neighborhood design. The project will be the fourth TND underway by Veridian Homes, the largest builder in the region. The others include Cannery Square, Grandview Commons, and Smith’s Crossing. The Autumn Lake plan by Downing, Thorpe & James includes 1,200 housing units, commercial space, and a school. Veridian has agreed to sell 35 affordable homes and to provide $500,000 to nonprofit groups to build 35 more affordable units.
