Chael, Cooper & Associates wins Palladio Award

Chael, Cooper & Associates of Coral Gables, Florida, which operates in association with Dover, Kohl & Partners Town Planning, won a Palladio Award for the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Building and McKean Gateway at Rollins College, which Chael, Cooper designed to terminate Park Avenue in Winter Park, Florida. A Palladio Award was also won by Historical Concepts of Peachtree City, Georgia, for the Schaller Cottage on Spring Island, South Carolina. Historical Concepts has designed buildings in new urban developments such as Glenwood Park in Atlanta and I’On in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The sponsor of the Palladio Awards, Traditional Building and Period Homes, presented a Special Award to Urban Design Associates for a pattern book that UDA produced for Norfolk Virginia (featured in the June 2004 New Urban News). “The importance of the role of pattern books in the revitalization of urbanism in the United States cannot be overstated,” said Michael Carey, editor in chief of Traditional Building and Period Homes.
