Bend, Oregon, TND Northwest Crossing is

Bend, Oregon, TND Northwest Crossing is measuring its development progress these days in “leaps and bounds,” according to broker Jeanne Turner. Sales began in the summer of 2002. As of June 2003, the first three phases were underway, and new sites were being sold almost as soon as they could be brought on the market. Lot sales totaled 126, with 93 houses sold or pending sale — and half of the units already occupied. Meanwhile, a fourth phase was being platted, adding another 39 home sites, and a fifth phase was being planned for later this year. Adding to the sense of momentum is a promising start on the town center, scheduled to break ground in the fall. “We thought it would take more of a residential base to generate commercial interest,” Turner said, “but people have already come knocking on our door.” Plans call for a buildout of 1,000 single-family homes and 300 multifamily units on streets with bike lanes, wide sidewalks, and rear-loaded garages.
