Construction is under way in Villebois
Construction is under way on the first 230 houses in Costa Pacific Communities’ large Villebois project in Wilsonville, Oregon (see Sept. 2003 New Urban News). In August the company sold 39 acres to West Hills Development; the land constitutes the first of five phases in which West Hills will build houses. In all, West Hills is expected to construct 850 dwellings on 158 acres. Model homes will open this fall. Another 54 acres are being retained by Costa Pacific, which will develop them into a mixed-use village core containing major retail and commercial activities as well as 1,054 housing units. The entire Villebois project encompasses nearly 500 acres and is expected to have more than 2,300 units by completion in 2008. The pedestrian-friendly community will increase the population of Wilsonville, now 14,000, by nearly 50 percent. West Hills is paying $32.7 million for its 158-acre portion.
