At its meeting during the last weekend

At its meeting during the last weekend of September, CNU’s Board of Directors made important decisions. It moved forward with chapters (see page 21). In addition: • Stephanie Bothwell was unanimously appointed to the board. A landscape architect, Ms. Bothwell is a long-time CNU member and is former head of our Design Task Force. She has held various positions with public agencies in Washington, DC, and Boston. • We have new officers for 2003. The board will be chaired by John Nor-quist, with vice-chair Hank Dittmar and treasurer Jacky Grimshaw. • We are fine-tuning membership dues to better meet the needs of large practitioner firms and public agencies, while offering more affordable memberships to recent graduates and nonprofit staff. • The board is examining how to hone CNU’s budget. To do so, they are breaking out the core elements of the budget from the money that is spent on projects. (To find out more about CNU’s Board of Directors, visit CNU.org.) CNU has had a great year. Our research on greyfields has spawned a new real estate specialty, as developers, designers, and public officials scramble to take advantage of these sites. Our Miami Beach Congress was a raging success, attracting over 1,000 professionals from the tops of their fields. We released two full-length books, Greyfields into Goldfields and Civilizing Downtown Highways, now in its second printing. With the end of the calendar year drawing nigh, now is a great time to support our work with a tax-deductible contribution. Donations of $500 or more will be recognized in a CNU publication, but contributions of any size are graciously welcomed.
