Northwest Landing

Northwest Landing, a new urban community in Dupont, Washington, is getting a town center, called Dupont Station, this year to serve its 4,000 residents. Master planned by Calthorpe Associates, Northwest Landing opened at the end of 1994. Residents have always had to drive to do their shopping. Northwest Landing is still under development and will eventually have 12,000 residents. The new town center will open with a 32,000-square-foot first phase. Seven retailers have signed leases as of August. A 77-room hotel has also begun construction. A county library is set to open in the spring of 2004. When Dupont Station is completed in about three years, it is projected to have 250,000 square feet of retail space, office space, apartments, and a public plaza on 32 acres. The town center is located adjacent to a highway interchange and is served by a bus transit facility, according to Michael Rabstoff, managing partner for the developer. A rail station is planned.
