Alta Planning + Design

Job Description

Alta Planning + Design is seeking a seasoned project manager who is considered an expert in community transportation and/or land use planning, has strong people and project management skills, and is looking for the next challenge in their career. You have worked for at least eight years in a consulting environment or public entity, with three or more years working as a project manager and have at least that much experience managing staff. You appreciate the latitude to define your own career path while benefiting from the support of an established company with national reach, and you seek a dynamic workplace environment with colleagues who are passionate about creating livable and healthy communities.

As a Senior Associate in Alta’s San Jose office, you will lead innovative transportation projects and manage consultant teams. You will guide and mentor a team of talented planners and analysts, helping them grow as professionals, meet our clients' needs, and collaborate to take projects from vision to implementation. You will manage some of our most high-profile projects and lead business development activities throughout the Bay Area. You will solidify Alta’s reputation as a trusted expert, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the firm and the active transportation profession.

Qualifications

You have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred) and have the ability to implement and direct the development of project scopes and budgets, technical planning documents, transportation network analysis, infrastructure improvement recommendations, public outreach strategies, or other similar products. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, project and time management software is important.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to take a leadership role working on high-profile active transportation projects throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Our current projects include bicycle, pedestrian and active transportation plans; bikeway and complete streets engineering; trail feasibility and design; Safe Routes to School programs; and education/safety campaigns. Our work provides healthy transportation and recreation opportunities in rural, suburban and urban environments--from dynamic downtown corridors to some of the most scenic natural places in California.

Alta Planning + Design offers competitive salaries, great benefits including wellness and bike benefits, ten paid holidays per year, a generous starting PTO package, and a five-year travel award, flexible work schedules, work-life balance, advancement opportunities and welcoming – and fun – work environments for our employees. Alta employees “walk the talk” and are passionate about creating livable and healthy communities.
