Project Manager

This Project Manager will work within a multidisciplined team lead by the Mueller Redevelopment Project Manager to facilitate the implementation and redevelopment of the 720-acre former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport into a mixed-use, mixed-income, multimodal, and sustainable community in line with the Mueller Master Plan and Mueller Master Development Agreement . The position will also work closely with the Mueller Master Developer and surrounding community to help guide planning, transportation, infrastructure, housing, and open space decisions within the redevelopment.

Duties may include participating in, facilitating, or leading the following activities: planning, design development, regulatory approvals and permitting, interim property management such as temporary use agreements, community engagement, project budgeting, financing and proforma review, infrastructure coordination, design review, construction administration, and lease, master development agreement, and consultant contract administration. Responsibilities will include facilitating project permitting and construction by coordinating with development partners, City departments, and other agencies on issues related to transportation, utilities, urban design, easements, site planning, and site improvements. The position also has the potential to assist with other projects related to the redevelopment of City of Austin-owned property with the goal of securing community and financial benefits such as affordable housing, parks and open space, mobility improvements, and the integration of transit and land use.

Mueller is an award-winning, master-planned urban village in central east Austin just three miles from downtown Austin. Located on the 700-acre former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, Mueller is the result of a public-private partnership between the City of Austin and the master developer, Catellus, to reimagine the site into a mixed-used, transit-oriented and pedestrian-friendly model of new urbanism and sustainability. Who is the Redevelopment Division

Preferred Experience

  • Preferred degree in architecture, landscape architecture, engineering or similar.
  • Knowledge and experience in urban planning and design.
  • Knowledge and experience in land development and construction processes.
  • Experience with Austin land use and building regulations, including zoning, subdivision and site plan regulatory requirements. 
  • Experience in negotiating contract terms involving one or multiple parties and contract administration.
  • Ability to travel to more than one work location.
