Engineering Project Manager (Railroad Crossings)

The Western Connecticut Council of Governments (WestCOG) seeks a qualified and highly- motivated person to serve as an Engineering Project Manager to complete a feasibility study to determine a cost-effective approach to implementing noise reduction measures, quiet zone(s) or other methods, along the New Canaan Branch Line of Metro-North Railroad. The goal of the study is to reduce the environmental impacts for the residents and businesses around the crossings while also improving the safety of all users at the railway- highway grade crossings.

The ideal candidate will have the experience and skillset necessary to complete the tasks for this project. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Complete tasks as outlined in the Scope of Work (Attachment A); and
  • On site field visits to the at-grade rail crossings on the New Canaan Branch; and
  • Conduct data collection and analysis; and
  • Prepare reports and related planning documents for technical and non-technical audiences; and
  • Interact with the public, including organizing and conducting public information meetings; and
  • Collaborate with local, state, and federal transportation officials to develop viable, responsive plans and recommendations; and
  • Other tasks as assigned or needed to complete the study.
