Planner III

Job Description
The Department of Sustainable Development at the City of Gainesville is seeking: dynamic, innovative and forward thinking professionals who will embrace the organization's citizen-centered vision to provide top-notch development services to our community. The community, its elected leaders, and executive leadership team have embraced this vision: The purpose of our city is the people of our city.

As a Planner III, you'll be part of a team moving Gainesville toward becoming The New American City. We use design thinking processes to examine what we do and how we do it. As a planner you will have the chance to work with professional planners on the usual (development review, comprehensive planning and annexation) and the new and innovative (working with researchers from the University of Florida to create routes for autonomous vehicles, encourage entrepreneurship in economically challenged neighborhoods, public engagement in the 21st century, sustainability polices, and art in public places). Important aspects of your work will include: advanced project planning and team leadership work administering the programs, projects, planning functions and technical planning responsibilities of the Planning Division in the Department of Doing. You'll work closely with the Building, Housing and Mobility staff. We don't have a name like anyone else because we aren't like anyone else. See why we've been featured in Atlantic and Fast Co. magazines. Come be a part of our dynamic, creative and innovative team.
