Senior Planner

Job Description
Ocala is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. It has become a logistics hub within the southeast region with millions of square feet of distribution centers coming to the area and associated job growth. The central location of the city and surrounding region between both coasts with access to other Florida destinations via a strong highway system contributes to the area’s attractiveness for residents and businesses. Downtown Ocala is enjoying a great renaissance with new projects, businesses, and programming capitalizing on being the heart of the community and a hub of activity for the region. A Senior Planner is sought to assist in guiding the orderly growth and development of the city. This is a highly responsible, technical and professional position.

Job Requirements
Requires a master’s degree in urban planning, public administration, geography or related field; American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification; and four years’ experience in general planning, preferably with City or County government. Knowledge of the principles and practices of neighborhood planning, historic preservation, urban design, and relationships among different factors influencing urban development and the general legal and social determinants of community development is highly desirable. An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.
