Job Description
This is an unclassified, highly responsible, professional and administrative position in the Community Development Department. The work involves current and long-range planning, zoning, and subdivision review; enforcement of zoning codes and ordinances; historic and environmental review and compliance; flood plain management as well as service to city commission appointed boards. This position will also coordinate with neighborhoods for engaged planning initiatives and meeting with neighborhood groups, position serves as the Secretary to the Springfield Historic Landmarks Commission.

Responsibilities
Makes field inspections and visits as necessary. Prepares and presents reports and recommendations to other staff. Assist with issuing zoning approvals for building and sign permits; responds to complaints of alleged zoning violations and issues zoning certificates. Explains, interprets, and answers questions for other staff members and citizens regarding rezoning and subdivision regulations and compliance with Section 106 regulations as applied by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development under the Memorandum of Agreement with the State Historic Preservation Office.

Qualifications
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in the field of urban or regional planning or a related field. Experience and understanding of federal entitlement programming and funding compliance is a plus. Possession of a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
