Located in northwestern Orange County, the desirable City of Cypress is recognized for its low crime, attractive recreational amenities, quality education and overall small-town charm. The City spans 6.6 square miles and is home to approximately 50,000 residents and supports a daytime population of 150,000. The Planning Director oversees Planning, Code Enforcement and Housing, with the assistance of four full-time staff members supplemented by contract services. This working director will have the rare opportunity to undertake several significant, long-term initiatives including environmental review and master planning of the 120-acre Cypress Town Center and Commons mixed-use development, updating the City’s Housing Element, and ensuring the business park’s continued success in partnership with owners/tenants. The ideal candidate will offer eight years of management experience in planning or a related field, including four years supervisory experience, and a bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a related discipline. A master’s degree is preferred. Appointment will be within the range of $160,000 - $175,000 DOQE; salary is supplemented by an attractive benefits package.
