Senior Planner (Urban Designer)
The Urban Design Division of the City of Austin Planning and Zoning Department has an exciting career opportunity for a talented and experienced Senior Planner (Urban Designer) to be a part of a talented team of highly motivated design and planning professionals serving in the municipal public sector.
Minimum Qualifications The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills in the design and management of large and small-scale, people-centered urban projects and working with multidisciplinary teams of professionals. Proven experience in the following is highly desired: review of development plans for urban design standards, transportation planning, evaluation of transit oriented developments, 3D form synthesis, form-based coding, leading design charrettes and workshops, small area planning, and experience with community engagement to formulate design solutions in a fast-growing city. The candidate should have demonstrated experience and background in urban design or a closely related field such as Architecture, Landscape Architecture, physical planning, etc. and a passion for walkable, bikable, and connected places.
