Town Planner

The Town of Mashpee Planning Department seeks applicants for a full time Town Planner, starting salary range of $78,811.20 - $86,049.60/year to commensurate with experience. This position works 40 hours/week from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Under the direction of the Town Manager and Planning Board the Town Planner provides professional, technical and management services in administering planning to balance growth, development or redevelopment in a sustainable manner for shaping short-range and long- range plans of the community; including land use controls and regulations applicable to the management of Town lands and the protection of natural and historic resources. The Town Planner shall plan, coordinate, organize, manage and direct the activities of the Town’s planning efforts in the preservation of community character. The Town Planner shall prepare and submit operational and capital budgets for planning purposes and oversee authorized expenditures for such functions.

Bachelor’s degree in community planning or closely related field; two or more years of progressively responsible experience in the planning field, preferably in a municipal setting; experience in the planning and programming of land use and community development programs; experience in subdivision review, zoning, grant applications and preparation of Request for Proposals; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Certification by American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred. Valid MA driver’s license (class D) required. Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
