Job Description:

Under the direction of the Land Use Bureau Chief or designee, the Associate Planner performs professional work in a broad range of current and comprehensive municipal planning functions.  Responsibilities include the review of development applications, analysis of new and revised development codes, preparation of planning studies and reports, policy implementation, design development and research; related work as required.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of state and federal statutes relating to planning, zoning, coastal area management and related municipal land use regulations, and the legal and administrative procedures of land use boards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional planning experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture or a closely related field.  A Master’s Degree in a related field or membership in the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
