As CNU's communications director, I work to spread understanding and awareness of CNU's agenda and of New Urbanism in general through the media and direct communications, such as this website. Before joining CNU, I oversaw communications in the office of then Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist. As a media and policy specialist in the city's Department of City Development, I directed the media rollout for the city's Downtown Plan, the public relations surrounding the implementation of its urban real estate development strategies, and local press outreach for CNU IIX in Milwaukee. Formerly, I was senior editor of Milwaukee Magazine, where my work recieved a number of honors, including a gold award from the City and Regional Magazine Association for urban design criticism and the Kay Levin Short Nonfiction Prize from the Wisconsin Council of Writers.
