Mr. Barnes 35-year planning career includes work in municipal and state government, environmental and economic consulting, school facilities construction, and as a housing developer. His early work in New Urbanism included the Old Town Urban Design Guidelines and the Marengo Avenue Overlay District, both for the city of Pasadena. Recent work has focused on integrating transportation systems and land development, using concepts like Mobility and Community Form and tools such as the Smart Transportation Guidebook.
