Steve Lawton is responsible for the daily operations of Planning, Engineering and Building Inspection. A member of the senior leadership team reporting to the City Manager, he also contributes in a significant role as a business-development officer for this fast-growing Bay Area city. In 1999-2000, as Chair of the Planning Commission, he led the effort to create the Central Hercules Plan, which became the first form code to be adopted into the law of a California city. Previously, from 1982 through 2000, Mr. Lawton held management consulting and business development positions with private and public firms providing systems engineering, technology and business innovation services to global corporations.
