The city of Boulder, Colorado has spent several decades purchasing a miles-wide green belt of farms and open space around town. The results are clearly evident in this photo, taken from Mt. Sanitas at the city's western edge. However, the sprawl on the other side of the greenbelt (to the northeast) is also visible here.
