Senior Planner / Neighborhood Preservation and Design
Requires a high level of skill/technical background in administering, coordinating and conducting technical reviews as part of the Town’s land use regulatory and historic preservation/urban design programs. Duties include: The review of development plans, subdivisions, annexations and planned unit developments; reviewing and updating the Town’s Comprehensive Plan; conducting or supervising data collection, research, and analysis for reports and studies; preparation of planning and project analysis; long range plan implementation and management of capital improvement projects; author and present regulatory requirements and policy initiatives; and, administration of the historic preservation/urban design program. Work requires close coordination with the Principal Planner, Assistant Director of Growth Management, Director of Growth Management, Town Council, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Historic Preservation Commission, other county and municipal planning and development departments, developer representatives, consultants and the general public.
Master’s degree preferred in Historic Preservation, Urban Design, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architectural History, Public Administration, Political Science, Economic Development, or related field; 5 yrs. planning/community development experience; or equivalent combination of education/ experience. AICP Certification preferred. Experience with Adobe software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Microsoft Office, ArcView GIS and other similar products is desired.
