Urbanists and city builders in Austin must tackle our region’s legacy of inequality and create places for all people to live affordable, healthy and powerful lives. Join us for a frank and lively program with Dr. Antwi Akom that will address head-on how we overcome barriers to creating a city and region that work for everyone.

Dr. Antwi Akom teaches Environmental Sociology, Public Health, and STEM Education at San Francisco State University and is a Co-Founder of the Institute for Sustainable Economic, Educational, and Environmental Design (I-SEEED), which focuses on building sustainable cities and schools. Professor Akom has collaborated with schools, community groups, policy makers and researchers to improve the lives and living conditions of poor people of color around the world. His forthcoming books are Building Sustainable Cities and Schools (with Pedro Noguera) and Ameritocracy: The Racing of Our Nations Children.
