The world's greatest urban waterfronts manage to combine high densities with well-loved public spaces. Elevated highways like the Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle merely detract from waterfronts. The notion of an elevated highway along Waikiki Beach is silly; why does it make sense along Elliott Bay?
