Lean Urbanism, A Conversation with Andres Duany

Start: Mon, 03/24/2014 (All day)
End: Mon, 03/24/2014 (All day)
Location: All Saints’ Episcopal Church-Ellis Hall, 634 West Peachtree St. NW. Atlanta, GA 30308 http://allsaintsatlanta.org/who-we-are/maps-and-parking/

Andres Duany will lead the discussion of  Lean Urbanism (http://vimeo.com/75794881); which suggests that given ongoing economic constraints communities need to become more nimble on the local level and build for resilience using techniques such as Tactical Urbanism (think Atlanta Streets Alive), Code-Free Zones, “Pink Codes”, Original Green, and Light Imprint.

Duany’s Project for Lean Urbanism, which is about making “small” possible in our communities, received a grant from the Knight Foundation.  “As part of the Knight grant, Duany and a team of collaborators plan to “expose the red tape that paralyzes development and business startups” and demonstrate ways to simplify the challenges facing people trying to remake their communities.”
