ELIGIBILITY

1. Who is eligible to run for a CNU board seat?

All current CNU members are eligible to apply for an open seat on the CNU Board of Directors. Eligible candidates will not have served more than four (4) consecutive terms and will comply with all application requirements.

2. How many seats are open?

CNU will fill three (3) seats by member election in 2012 and an additional four (4) in 2013. The process will repeat itself without delay, unless altered by the Board of Directors.

3. What are the term limits of a member-elected Board member?

Just like internally-selected Board members, member-elected Board members will serve two (2) year terms, with a maximum of four (4) consecutive terms.

4. How many times can I run for the CNU board?

CNU members are eligible to run for the CNU Board as many times as they want, assuming they have not served four (4) consecutive terms.

5. What is expected of a member-elected Board member?

Member-elected representatives will have full voting rights and be held to the same level of expectation as internally selected candidates.

PROCESS

6. When is the application deadline?

The application deadline is February 17, 2012.

7. How do I submit my application?

Applications may be submitted electronically to nominations@cnu.org

8. How do I know if my application was received?

CNU will email a confirmation notice after the application has been received.

9. When does voting start/end?

Members are able to vote online between March 5, 2012 and May 11, 2012. In-person voting will also be available at the member meeting at CNU 20 in West Palm Beach, FL on May 10, 2012.

10. Who is eligble to vote?

Current CNU members are eligible to vote in the Board elections.

11. How can I vote?

Your vote can be cast online at CNU.org or in-person at the member meeting at CNU 20 in West Palm Beach, FL.

12. Can I vote more than once?

Each member may cast one vote for each seat.

13. When will the results be announced?

Results of the member-elected Board seats will be announced on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at CNU 20 in West Palm Beach, FL. A corresponding announcement will also appear on CNU.org

FORMAT

14. What is required in the application?

Complete applications will include:

  • A completed applicant questionnaire.
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation (letters should incorporate specific examples of leadership and be limited to one page each)
  • A headshot (300 dpi minimum)
  • 15. What are the parameters of the headshot requirement?

    Headshots must be a minimum 300 dpi. (.jpg preferred)

    16. Why is a headshot required?

    CNU intends to post each applicant's headshot and parts of his/her application on the CNU website to inform members about and put a face to each of the candidates.

    17. Why are three (3) letters of recommendation required?

    CNU requests three (3) letters of recommendation to represent the candidate's expertise and experience in the field of New Urbanism, provide examples of their work ethic and accomplishments, and demonstrate their ability to work together in collaborative groups. Letters of recommendation, or excerpts of these letters, will be included on a candidate's page on CNU.org

    18. Why am I asked to agree to CNU's Conflict of Interest Policy, Board Member Responsibilites document and the principles of the CNU Charter?

    CNU requires all Board members - member-elected or not - to agree to CNU's Conflict of Interest Policy, Board Member Responsibilties, and the principles of the CNU Charter. In order to be considered an eligible candidate, applicants are asked to take the same pledge as all other Board members.
